This is a hand-built pottery piece I did many years ago during my undergraduate art program. The assignment was to make a self-portrait. I created the large piece with a serene expression. Across the right hand is draped a small despaired figure to express internal struggles not usually revealed to others. So deep, that undergrad. Now it graces my garden & continues to crack and break down some over the years. Perhaps like her creator.
